How To Package Wheel Accessories – The Packaging Doctor

Protecting Car Wheels: A Packaging Solution

By Carl Board • Tuesday July 7, 2015

With the recent stretch of pleasant weather, classic and sports cars have been out in full force, showing off their sleek designs and powerful engines to anyone who passes by. Whether you’re a fan of these vehicles or just someone who enjoys a well-maintained car, there’s something special about seeing them on the road.

While I can’t offer to detail your vehicle, I can certainly suggest some practical packaging solutions for businesses dealing with car parts. For instance, if you’re running an online store selling car accessories, ensuring your products arrive in pristine condition is crucial. One particular concern I’ve come across involves protecting wheel trims during shipping.

Recently, I received a query from Rob, who runs an expanding business supplying car parts to dealerships across the UK. He’s noticed that wheel trims often arrive dirty after transport, causing frustration among manufacturers. So, how do you prevent this from happening? Here’s what I recommended:

First, consider using Pure Kraft Paper Rolls. This material is strong and resistant to tearing, making it ideal for protecting delicate items like wheel trims. The rolls come in various sizes, allowing you to cut the paper to fit perfectly around each trim. Simply trace the trim's outline on the paper and cut it out—no special skills required! Once placed over the trim, the paper acts as a shield against dust and grime during transit.

For even more security, I suggested adding a layer of Shrink Wrap Film. Unlike traditional plastic wraps, this eco-friendly alternative emits fewer odors and forms a tight seal around the trim when heated. To achieve this, you’ll need access to a Shrink Hood Machine, which is a worthwhile investment for any growing business. These machines not only handle trims efficiently but also accommodate other car parts you might want to package.

Using the machine is straightforward: place the wrapped trim inside, close the hood, and let the heat do its magic. Within seconds, the trim is securely sealed, ready to make its journey without worry. It’s a quick, efficient way to ensure your products reach their destination in top condition.

Packaging plays a vital role in maintaining product integrity, especially in industries like automotive. By combining kraft paper and shrink wrap, you can significantly reduce damage during shipping while enhancing the overall presentation of your goods.
