How To Package Cushions: The Packaging Doctor
How to Package Cushions: The Packaging Doctor
The Surgery Is Now Open

Hi Packaging Doctor,
I've recently launched an interior design business focused on soft furnishings, and I'm currently producing a range of cushions in various materials. Right now, all my cushions are the same size—45cm by 30cm, rectangular in shape. I only need two different packaging options depending on whether a customer orders one cushion or multiple.
Do you have any recommendations for suitable packaging solutions?

Hi Adelaide,
Thanks for reaching out—it's always exciting to hear about new businesses getting off the ground. As your cushions are soft and delicate, it’s important to protect them during transit. My first suggestion is to use a double-wall box. These offer extra strength and protection against moisture and scratches, which is essential for soft goods like cushions.
Based on your dimensions (45cm x 30cm), I’d recommend our 18 x 12 x 12 inch double-wall box. It fits your cushion size perfectly and is multi-scored, meaning you can adjust the height to accommodate either one or two cushions. For a single cushion, you can cut the box down to 9 inches, which helps reduce costs and simplifies storage. Plus, ordering in bulk will save you money and make your operations more efficient.
If you’re concerned about humidity or dampness, consider placing each cushion inside a polythene bag and adding a silica gel sachet. This will help keep your products dry and in top condition when they arrive at the customer's door.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you need further advice.
Best regards,
The Packaging Doctor
