Hi Packaging Doctor,

I've just started a small computer store, and I'll be selling both in-store and online. It's going to be a specialist shop, mainly dealing with parts and accessories rather than complete PCs. Some of these items, like graphics cards, are pretty fragile. How can I make sure they arrive safely?

Thanks, Gareth

Hi Gareth,

You're absolutely right — many computer components, especially things like graphics cards and motherboards, are extremely sensitive. One of the biggest threats is static electricity. Even a small static charge can permanently damage these delicate parts. To prevent that, the first step is to place each item in an anti-static bag. Our open-top metallized shielding bags are perfect for this — they help dissipate static charges and protect your components from harm.

Once the item is in the anti-static bag, you can add an extra layer of protection by placing it inside an anti-static bubble bag. This not only helps cushion the item against shocks and impacts during transit but also adds another barrier against static electricity. If you’re packaging items for in-store sales, these two steps should be enough. However, if you're shipping them out, I'd recommend putting everything into a single-wall box for added security.

Remember, even the smallest details can make a big difference when it comes to protecting your products. Always double-check your packaging before sending anything out.

Thanks, The Packaging Doctor

D-Glutamic Acid

D-glutamic acid is present in very low levels. However, in recent years, it has been found that D-glutamate also has an important role in some biological processes. For example, D-glutamic acid can promote neuronal growth and repair, and has potential for treating neurodegenerative diseases
