Packaging bag barrier paper material

Stora Enso's global specialty papers division has launched MultiFlexTM packaging barrier paper with Robert`s Packaging's C-1500 Series high-speed continuous molding/filling/sealing equipment. The material operates through a number of tests and trial productions, and can be re-sealable in the bag mouth.

“The mix of MultiFlex bags and Robert`s Packaging equipment is seamless,” said Dawn Soucek, business development manager for Stora Enso's specialty paper segment worldwide. “With MultiFlex, manufacturers have stronger and non-aluminum-containing barrier materials. The use of this new material does not affect the high-speed operational performance of the customer's existing Robert`s Packaging equipment."

“As a supplier of both equipment and outward packaging, we have seen the potential market for stand-up pouches. Customers are always looking for new and unique packaging materials and require the bags to be as firm as possible.” Robert`s Steve Koppe, general manager of Packaging, said, "The packaging solutions we have put together with Stora Enso are environmentally friendly. The C Series high-speed systems and their bag making capabilities will make better use of Stora Enso's MultiFlex material properties."

MultiFlex, FDA approved, is an aluminum-free, paper-based barrier material that can replace film and aluminum foil for durability. Due to its good barrier properties, it is ideal for packaging foods, helping to block moisture and oxygen, and maintaining the original flavor and aroma of foods. In addition, MultiFlex can also perform post-fill inspection and RFID tracking.
