Some readers have recently reported to this newspaper that there are many problems with the quality of recycled paper. Although environmental recycled paper is a development trend in the paper industry in the future, at present, there is a certain gap between recycled paper and plain paper. Recycled copy paper on the market today is not as good as plain paper in appearance. In a relatively humid place, the paper is easily deformed, and when it is used for copying and printing, it is easy to jam. At the same time, attaching more static electricity is also a problem that is not easily solved.

The reporter learned from the well-known recycled paper manufacturer, the Beijing Paper Mill No.7, that since its introduction into the market in May 2000, the development momentum of recycled paper has been very rapid. At present, most of Beijing office paper has been changed to recycled paper, and some schools have also carried out activities in which old papers are used to replace recycled paper. At the end of last year, the leading business cards of Beijing city leaders also used recycled paper as raw materials. The city produces an average of 3 million tons of urban waste paper every year. If they are all made into recycled paper, they can save 9 million cubic meters of wood each year.

Since the end of last year, the plant has already improved its production technology. The second generation of environmentally friendly recycled paper is now on the market. As to whether this batch of products can be recognized by consumers, it will take time to test it.

Relevant experts believe that only recycled “re-upgrade” of recycled paper can stabilize the existing market. The key to an environmentally friendly product that really wants to enter the market is the quality of the product.
