Nanotechnology Application in Paper (2)

Second, the current production of applied nano-paper

1. Nano stone paper
Everyone knows that straw pulp, wood pulp, bamboo pulp, and hemp fiber are the most basic and common papermaking raw materials, but with the application of nano-high-tech in the field of papermaking, new technologies have been developed to use paper made of stone. The resulting paper is called Nano-Stone Paper. It was first developed by Taiwan's Longmeng technology company Mr. Liang Shihui in early 2001 and began production at the end of the year. Now, this kind of nano-paper has started production.

Shike Paper is made by coating nano-scale calcium carbonate onto a substrate. Due to the nature of nano-materials, any substance can be coated when it reaches the nanoscale. As the stone is rich in carbonic acid, it is the material of choice in practical applications. The papermaking process of Shike Paper is strictly different from that of traditional papermaking. It requires closer to the plastic production process. The production equipment is also more similar to the equipment for manufacturing plastics, and its process flow is not as complex as traditional papermaking. An important difference between the two is that Shike Paper's production is not using pulp to make paper, so there is no need for a drop of water in the entire process that exists objectively.

Compared to the huge water consumption of traditional paper, this can be considered a revolutionary progress. In addition, Shike Paper's environmental requirements for papermaking processes are more stringent than traditional ones. They are very delicate and clean. As long as they have a little impurities, they can affect the surface smoothness and smoothness of the paper. Although currently only one kind of color ink-jet printing photographic paper is used for the production of such stone paper, the paper samples of printing paper such as newsprint paper and coated paper have also been produced. Therefore, it is believed that with the deepening of research, other printing The large-scale production of stone paper is not far off. This new color ink-jet printing photo paper (Stone Paper) has the following advantages over traditional similar products:

(1) Due to the objective existence of wood fiber, but the nano-scale stone powder slurry is applied to the substrate, the particle shape makes the paper surface composed of numerous holes, so the ink absorption is firm, and the ink-jet printing is not easy to be turbid. It is also waterproof.
(2) The traditional wood pulp paper has fibers and it is easy to cause halo ink, while the stone paper has no fiber and there is no halo phenomenon, so the ink jet print has high definition. Inkjet printing paper requires extremely high resolution, stone paper all achieve 2880dpi accuracy, and the printing effect is particularly good. The surface of the stone paper is not covered with a film, and inorganic substances on the surface will not react with the ink, thus avoiding color cast and decolorization.
(3) Compared with the amount of ink used in traditional color ink-jet printing paper, Shike Paper saves ink. Shike Paper's 720dpi accuracy is the same as the traditional 1440dpi accuracy. Under the same definition requirements, Shike Paper can save half of the ink.
(4) The raw materials used in Shike Paper are inorganic materials, which do not react with ink, do not react with the acid-base components in the air, do not change yellow, and are more suitable for the preservation of valuable documents. Traditional photographic papers have a shelf life requirement, and they cannot be used after being opened for two months. Stone Paper easily solves this problem. There is no question of how long it can be used after it has expired.
(5) Easy to recycle. Shike Paper will be weathered into stone powder after three months of exposure, which is conducive to environmental protection. (6) Low cost. Because Shike Paper uses cheap stone as raw material, its cost is low. Compared with traditional color ink jet printing photo paper, the cost only reaches 25%, and the selling price is only about 1/3, which fully improves the competitiveness of its products. However, the current specification of Shike Paper is not complete yet, and it is mainly limited to the conventional small-format range of A1, A2, A3, and A4. Large-format products are still blank, but with the development of science and technology, the production of large-format products It should be no difficulty.
