The basic detection method of analog pointer multimeter is recommended to be done in two steps
Confirm the range before testing
The causes of failure of analog pointer multimeters are mostly overload and falling. The failure caused by overcurrent is the low current range of the internal resistance and the resistance range is pressurized (overcurrents of tens to hundreds of times are passed in the circuit). If it is damaged, there should be more of this kind. Although equipped with instrument protection devices and protection circuits such as diodes, first check the range before testing.
When detecting unknown objects
When detecting current and voltage with unclear values, first measure the approximate value with the highest range, and find the most suitable range (adjust to 1000-250V range when measuring voltage) to prevent instrument damage caused by wrong range. Please do not change the range during the process.
